چکیده

Abstract Background To evaluate the predictive value of AR-V7 expression detected by immunohistochemical (IHC) in prognosis prostate cancer patients receiving adjuvant hormonal therapy (AHT) following radical prostatectomy (RP). Methods We retrospectively collected data 110 with RP, followed AHT, from Tongji hospital. IHC analysis was performed a retrospective cohort. Results In total, were enrolled, whom 21 (19.1%) AR-V7-positive and 89 (80.9%) AR-V7-negative. No significant differences baseline characteristics found between two groups. had shorter progression-free survival (PFS) (HR: 4.26; 95% CI, 1.55 to 11.68; P = 0.003), cancer-special (CSS) 22.47; 2.912 173.4; 0.003) overall (OS) 6.61; 1.40 31.20; 0.017) compared AR-V7-negative patients. multivariate analysis, is an independent risk factor for PFS (HR, 3.76; 1.63 8.70; 0.002), CSS 9.17; 1.48 55.56; OS 4.81; 1.28 17.86; 0.020). Conclusion The presence tissue independently associated unfavorable PFS, who received AHT.

Risk Factors for Clinical Metastasis after Radical Prostatectomy and Adjuvant Androgen Deprivation Therapy

More than 1,112,000 patients worldwide were estimated to be diagnosed with prostate cancer (PC) in 2012, resulting in more than 307,000 deaths (Ferlay et al., 2013). In Japan, PC is the fourth, most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, with an estimated incidence of 51,534 cases (11.8% among 437,787 cancer patients of all primary sites) in 2008, and accounts for about 9,800 deaths annually in the ...

Screening for osteoporosis in men receiving androgen deprivation therapy.

To the Editor: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. One in 2 men with prostate cancer is expected to receive androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Use of ADT is associated with accelerated bone loss and an increased risk of fractures. To better characterize fracture risk and optimize bone health, a bone mineral density (BMD) test has been recommended prior to ADT initiation since 200...

Cancer Therapy: Preclinical Rapid Induction of Androgen Receptor Splice Variants by Androgen Deprivation in Prostate Cancer

Purpose:Mechanisms mediating androgen receptor (AR) reactivation in prostate cancer that progresses after castration (castration-resistant prostate cancer; CRPC) and subsequent treatment with abiraterone (CYP17A1 inhibitor that further suppresses androgen synthesis) remain unclear. Experimental Design: Prostate cancer xenografts were examined to identify mechanism of progression after castratio...

Long-term results of radical prostatectomy with immediate adjuvant androgen deprivation therapy for pT3N0 prostate cancer

BACKGROUND Radical prostatectomy is used to treat patients with clinically localized prostate cancer, but there have been few reports of its use in locally advanced disease. We evaluated the long-term results of radical prostatectomy and immediate adjuvant androgen deprivation therapy in Japanese patients with pT3N0M0 prostate cancer. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 128 patients with pT3N...

Etoricoxib and intermittent androgen deprivation therapy in patients with biochemical progression after radical prostatectomy.

OBJECTIVES To verify whether in patients with biochemical progression after radical prostatectomy (RRP), the administration of a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor during the off-phases of intermittent androgen deprivation (IAD) may increase the effectiveness and off-therapy time of intermittent therapy. METHODS This is a comparative, prospective study. A total of 44 patients with biochemical...
